The BCS has joined forces with AbilityNet, a charity which provides free information and advice on how to get the best out of your IT equipment.

BCS LogoFactsheets and Skillsheets from the BCS and AbilityNet include topics such as:

  • Accessibility  Adapting keyboards, mice, Windows, the internet and your favourite applications to suit you and your needs. 
  • Assessing Computing Needs  
  • Computers and Health
  • Careers & Employment  Leaflets and guides on issues surrounding careers in IT
  • Employment and disability.
  • Credited status for experienced professional engineers 
  • The Internet Internet hoaxes, personal risk, spam, viruses, and children and the internet 
  • Problems Using Computers  Communication aids, help with learning, and hearing difficulties, dyslexia and visual impairment. Computing and disability support.
  • Security 
  • Education 
  • Skillsheets  Mouse pointer and screen display options, auto correct & auto text in Microsoft Word. 

As part of its responsibility to the community the BCS also maintains a Professional Advice Register - a list of BCS members who provide advice, either as Consultants, Security Specialists or Expert Witnesses.
