This year's Middle East Film Festival programme highlights the evolving nature of Iranian cinema, with films from established auteurs, hidden gems, and first-time directors. Don't miss Abbas Kiarostami's classic quest film Where Is My Friend's House?, Bashu, The Little Stranger, a moving film following children caught in the Iran-Iraq war from new wave director Bahram Beyzai, or Two Women, Tahmineh Milani's distressing exploration of women's rights during the first years of the Islamic Republic. There are also some stunning recent films, including the darkly dystopian Have You Another Apple? which offers an intriguing take on the hero's journey.
