PC World launches Advent Eco PC

Uses 80% less energy than an average computer

PC World has launched its first bespoke energy-saving personal computer, the Advent "Eco PC".

Featuring a fan-less self-cooling system, the Advent Eco PC apparently uses about 25 watts of power - around half of the power it takes to light a typical household light bulb.

Specs include a T5250 Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Windows Vista Premium, a wireless keyboard and integrated Wi-Fi.

As well as saving energy, PC World claims the computer will also save you money. Based on 4 hours a day use, the Advent Eco PC in Energy Saver mode will cost around £8 per year to run, compared to a traditional PC using an average of 105 watts of power and costing more than £43 per year.

Upping the eco credentials further, the case of the Eco PC is made up of 75% recycled materials, and packaging and printed materials have been minimised with the set-up guide printed on the side of the box.

The Advent Eco PC is available in PC World stores nationwide and online for £599.99.
