3D TV tested

According to BSkyB (British Sky Broadcasting), Sky has made 3D television broadcasts in the home.

The test involved filming sporting events with 3D cameras. A bout with the boxer Ricky Hatton, England rugby matches, Liverpool football games and the Gladiators are the events said to have been televised in 3D.

The broadcast was sent to a standard Sky HD set-top box. However, to view the 3D matches, a specially designed television display made by Hyundai, as well as a pair of 3D glasses, were needed.

The BBC are also said to have demonstrated coverage of the Six Nations rugby championship in the 3D format.
3D equipment is speculated to be a feature of many consumer electronics manufacturers at the next CES exhibition, held annually in January, in Las Vegas
