This angry drama focuses on an overlooked contribution to the allied cause in the second world war - the part played by African soldiers in liberating France, and how they were shamefully ignored afterwards. Despite the war-movie cliches, it's a moving account of the adventures of an engaging quartet of young Algerian soldiers in the style of Saving Private Ryan.
Night at the Museum (Shawn Levy, 2006) 10.25am & 6pm, Sky Movies Comedy
Ben Stiller is on security at the museum when things start to go bump, crash and wallop in the night: an ancient curse has brought the exhibits to life, and Stiller is up to his neck in family-friendly comic terrors. Among the revivified dinosaurs are Mickey Rooney and Dick Van Dyke, plus a David Brent-like Ricky Gervais.
Local Hero (Bill Forsyth, 1983) 6.45pm, Film4
An enchanting tale of a clash of cultures in a small Scottish village, as Texan oil exec Peter Riegert arrives, Abramovich-like, to buy the place up, lock, stock and barrel, working out the deal with local lawyer Denis Lawson. Forsyth's wistful, funny script attracted Burt Lancaster at a cut price: he is a twinkling presence as the corporation's star-gazing boss.
