Another funny-peculiar comedy from the director of The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic; this concerns three brothers (Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman) reuniting on a train from Mumbai to the Himalayas, on the first anniversary of their father's death, and locked in sibling rivalry. It's a beautiful, freaky, sentimental journey, venomous snake and all.
Amazing Grace (Michael Apted, 2006)8pm, Sky Movies Drama
Timed with the 200th anniversary of Britain's abolition of the slave trade, Apted's rousing costume drama stars an impressive Ioan Gruffudd as William Wilberforce, confronting establishment forces led by Ciaran Hinds' villainous Lord Tarleton. The parliamentary cut-and-thrust is well-handled, but slightly at the expense of portraying the horrors of slavery.
Y Tu Mamá También (Alfonso Cuarón, 2001)11.15pm, Film4
Julio and Tenoch are 17 and amazed when beautiful, unhappy young wife Luisa (Maribel Verdú) accepts their invitation to head out of Mexico City in search of a legendary beach. As the buddies (beautifully played by Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna) become rivals in youthful machismo for Luisa, their funny, tender, sexy rite-of-passage slides into melancholy shadows.
