Wii TV
A new online and on-demand television channel will be accessible this spring through the Nintendo Wii.
Nintendo unveiled the service – called Wiinoma – that will be broadcast to Japan's online console audience. There is also a possibility that pay-per-view titles will also be offered through the Wii Points system
Although the company is said to be considering international expansion, Wiinoma is set to launch exclusively in Japan this spring.
Gamesindustry.biz reports that a senior executive at Fuji Television in Japan commented that if Nintendo’s plans to “make the Wii the centrepiece of the living room took off in a meaningful way, then it would be the stuff of television producers' nightmares."
Fuji Television is the biggest commercial broadcaster in Japan.
