Better iPhone gaming with the iControlPad

Could this accessory unlock the iPhone's true gaming potential?

The idea of the iPhone and iPod touch as a viable gaming platform to rival the likes of the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, has been banded around for a while now - no less than by Apple itself.

However, the problem that many traditional gamers have found is that they find just touchscreen controls rather restrictive.

Cue the iControlPad, a case that we first saw a while back, that fits onto the iPhone, adding conventional controls to either side of the display. However, it now seems that this case could actually be on its way.

Of course, you'll still be able to use the touchscreen controls and take advantage of the accelerometer alongside the conventional controls.

If rumours are to be believed, the iControlPad will look pretty much like the image we've got our hands on, but it will be black rather than white to match the rest of the iPhone.

No news on when we can expect it, but we'll keep you updated on anything we hear.
