Solar powered iPod
Industry sources have indicated that Apple have filed a patent which would allow them to develop a solar-powered iPod.
Previously, the possibility was limited by the necessary surface area of solar panels, which were generally too large to place on portable devices.
According to the sources, the company have gotten around the problem by placing the solar panels underneath the LCD screen which allows for the absorption of ambient light. It’s thought unlikely that the panel could fully power the device, instead it could be used to supplement the battery life.
