scenta upgrades successful careers sites with web 2.0 networking tools
Our users will be able to join (and create) public or private groups of their peers to discuss courses, universities, companies and jobs – plus any other hot topics they fancy.
It’s a fact that our audiences are relying less on traditional corporate communications and more on consulting with their peers for advice and recommendations in all aspects of their life. Therefore, we need to provide them with the tools to keep each other enthused and excited about careers in science, engineering and technology – whilst still making sure that focused, authoritative careers content and debate is available.
We’ll still be featuring all the news, events and interviews to keep them up to date, but with our new networking functionality we’ll get the dialogue going on a focused career track. Our users will be able to communicate with students on the same course, or professionals already working in their chosen field - and get help with projects, job interviews or career decisions from those in the know.
Also, a little later on we’ll be unveiling some unique career planning software that will steer them towards the perfect science, engineering and technology job, ensuring that they keep their qualifications up-to-date and that they have the best prospects possible.
Network with your audience
This is an exciting time. Much like the social networks are helping make or break brands today, scenta.co.uk will be the perfect channel for companies, institutions and universities to get their careers information across to a targeted, extremely engaged audience.
By creating a ‘corporate’ group (with it’s own profile and homepage) or participating in forums and blogs, your organisation will be able to engage with your audience, in a way they want to communicate. These free-speaking and frank environments will enable your organisation to find out what your audience really thinks – without the need for expensive and time consuming direct mail or email campaigns.
New beginnings for Science Worlds
What’s more, Science Worlds.co.uk (our site for 14-19 year olds) will also be upgraded with the same networking tools and re-branded to reflect the new networking functionality. ScienceWorlds.co.uk will become bescenta.co.uk and the magazine will be renamed bescenta.
The aim of the re-brand is to make our 14-19 year old users aware that this is a networking site with similar tools to the likes of Bebo (which the vast majority will be using) – and to highlight the family connection to scenta.co.uk. With a shared functionality and ethos, it will be an obvious transition for the user to move to scenta.co.uk when they reach the 18-30 age bracket – enabling us to retain their ongoing loyalty and their enthusiasm for a career in science, engineering and technology.
