Equation

    Name Kelvin Circulation Theorem

    Equation
d d t function of v . d l = 0

    Definition of terms t = time, v = velocity, d l = infinitesimal line element on a closed curve

    Comments

The circulation in a fluid is a measure of the velocity distribution and is defined as function ofv.dl. In an ideal fluid (one for which thermal conductivity and viscosity are unimportant), for flow at a constant entropy, the circulation does not change with time.
