Equation

    Name Area of Sector

    Equation A = 1 2 r s = 1 2 r 2 θ

    Definition of terms
A = area, r = radius, s = arc length, θ

    Comments A sector of a circle is simply the area between two radii an angle θ apart. The area of a sector is equal to half the radius times the arc length s . Since s = r θ, this is equal to 1 2 r 2 θ .
