Equation

    Name Area of Trapezoid

    Equation A = 1 2 h ( a + b )

Definition of terms A = area, h = perpendicular height measured between the two parallel sides, a = length of one side, b = length of perpendicular side

Comments   A trapezoid is a four-sided figure with one pair of parallel sides of length a and b . The area is equal to half the perpendicular height times the sum of the lengths of the two parallel sides.
