Comments |
In atomic physics, the equation governing the emitted frequencies of photons falling from the energy level n to the energy level m is as above. The Balmer series consists of the spectrum of electrons falling to the m = 2 energy level. The constant RB is empirically determined and different for each atom.
It is named after Johann Jakob Balmer (1825 - 1898), a Swiss mathematician and schoolteacher. |
