Equation

    Name Bohr Radius

    Equation a 0 = h 2 4 π 2 m e e 2

Definition of terms a0 = Bohr radius, h = Planck's constant, me = mass of electron, e = elementary charge

Comments In the Bohr model of the hydrogen atom, the radii of the stationary orbits of the electron are given by rn = n2a0, where n is an integer. Thus a0 is a first approximation to the radius of the atom.
