Equation

    Name Brewster's Law

    Equation tan θ p = n 2 n 1 = ε 2 ε 1

Definition of terms θp = Brewster angle, n2 , n1 = refractive index of media, ε2 1= permittivities of the media

Comments   At an interface between two media, refractive indices n1 and n2 , Brewster's Law states that at a certain angle, the refracted beam will be polarised perpendicular to the plane of incidence. If the incoming beam's E field is in the incident plane, then at the Brewster angle, no reflection will be observed.
