Equation

    Name Chemical Potential

    Equation μ i ( T , p , n i ) = μ 0 i ( T ) + R T ln p + R T ln c i

Definition of terms μi(T,p,ni)= molar partial potential, dependent on temperature, pressure, and particle number, μ0i(T)= molar partial potential, dependent on temperature, R = molar gas constant, T = temperature, p = pressure, ci = concentration of species i

Comments   The molar partial potentials μi given above are related to the chemical potential gi by the equation μi=Migi, where Mi is the molar mass of species i .

The equation given above separates the pressure- and concentration-dependent parts of the chemical potential.
