Equation

    Name Couple

    Equation G = Fd

Definition of terms G = moment of couple, F = magnitude of force, d = distance between lines of action of forces

Comments   A couple is defined as two forces of equal magnitude and opposite direction, having parallel lines of action that do not coincide.
The magnitude of the resultant vector moment, also called the magnitude of the couple, is equal to Fd about any point.
