The neper is used for the expression of the ratio of two currents, voltages or analogous quantities. In this case, the number of nepers is equal to the logarithm of the ratio. It can also be used as an expression of the ratio of two powers, when it is equal to the logarithm of the square root of the ratio.
The decineper, equal to one-tenth of a neper, is often used. |
