World's first free and legal P2P site signs a major

Qtrax, the music sharing site that had an embarrassing failed launch back in January when it was revealed the four major music labels it claimed to have signed deals with denied it publicly, has managed to bag one major record company's tracks.

The site, that initially promised free peer-to-peer downloads from a catalogue of 25 million songs, has now signed a music deal with a major music label, Universal Music Group, in the States.

This time round the announcement has actually been confirmed by the label with Universal issuing a brief press statement saying that "Qtrax will now have access to the most extensive digital music catalogue of chart-topping artists in the world".

Qtrax has not revealed whether the deal will be extended to the UK, or whether other labels are now closer to agreeing a deal. Link to article
